Every January first (for the past few years – 2020, 2021, 2022) I like to look at some numbers and stats from the previous year.

Content

This was once again a solid year with exactly 365 posts. It’s getting a little harder in some ways; the flow is great, but continually finding new things to share can be challenging at times.

On the other hand, I read more books this year than probably any other year in my life (68 finished this year), and that’s helped tremendously.

Analytics

Total pageviews on the site rose to 60,324, though that’s still not really my goal for doing this. As I mentioned last year, people consume a lot of my content via Medium and Substack, which is fantastic. I’m not looking to force people to the blog to read content and I’m happy for folks to read it wherever it might be.

Popular Posts

Here are the post popular posts from 2023. As with each year, many of them weren’t written in 2023 but these are what people read the most last year.

1 – The customer is always right in matters of taste
August 13, 2021 – 16,284 views
This post took the crown for the second straight year.

2 – Explain it to me like I’m five
March 15, 2021 – 5,127 views
It’s always good to try to get ideas distilled down to be as simple as possible, and this post keeps pulling in a good bit of traffic.

3 – The hearing impaired scam
November 27, 2017 – 2,059 views
This one moved a bit higher on the list, which is crazy for a post that’s more than six years old.

4 – Moving from Obsidian to Tana
October 31, 2022 – 1,518 views
I had strongly considered moving my notes from Obsidian to Tana (though I eventually stuck with Obsidian), and this post talked through the pros and cons of making that move.

5 – Highlights from “The Road Back to You”
January 18, 2020 – 1,443 views
This post about the Enneagram is another year older and still attracts visitors. In fact, I reference this one from time to time to keep myself straight on the meanings of the various Enneagram types.

2024

Let’s run it back again. I’ve got a few posts already in the queue and a pile of books to read, so here we go!
