Organize your brain by sharing your thoughts

One of my main ongoing topics on here is finding ways to better organize my brain, and it happens in a few different ways.

I have tools like Obsidian (to store my brain) and Anki (to remember things) to help a lot, but this blog itself is one of my main forms of learning — for a couple of reasons.

First, it forces me to see the world around me. I’m a questioning person by nature (I’m an enneagram 5), but this helps take it further, as unfamiliar situations (and the answers that arise from them) can lead to posts on here. The bigger reason is that writing posts on here helps me to better understand and remember the content of them.

In his popular book “12 Rules for Life“, author Jordan Peterson has a similar approach when related to conversations:

People organize their brains with conversation. If they don’t have anyone to tell their story to, they lose their minds. Like hoarders, they cannot unclutter themselves.

One way or another, getting content out of your head and in front of other people is a great way to sharpen and remember it far better than just keeping it tucked away. Make sure you have a good outlet for your thoughts and it’ll help you keep things more straight inside of your head.
